The best, highest quality ruar (the top covers for givehs, a traditional Iranian handmade type of shoes) are woven in Kondazi village, Marvdasht County, Fars Provnice, Iran. The village is located in the Zagros Mountains, with adobe, mud and stone architecture, 2200 meters above the sea level. This village used to be surrounded by fruit gardens, but nowadays due to the drought and drying of the local spring, most of its gardens are dry and gone.
