Skoda Evolution (1905-2026) | 36 Cars Transform Through Time

Václav Klement wrote to a German bicycle maker in Czech to ask about a repair. The reply told him to write in German if he wanted an answer, so he started building bicycles himself. This Skoda evolution follows 35 cars and 120 years of Skoda history, from the first Laurin & Klement car of 1905 to the 2026 Skoda Epiq. Laurin & Klement moved from bicycles to motorcycles and then to cars, and in 1925 the company joined the huge Škoda Works industrial group. The Popular of the 1930s became one of the best selling cars in Czechoslovakia, and after the war Skoda kept building cars for a whole country behind the Iron Curtain. When Volkswagen bought Skoda in 1991, the brand was selling the Bertone styled Favorit.
